Subway 500 Results

Hello Angels,

Tragedy has struck NASCAR again this weekend. A plane belonging to Hendrick Motorsports crashed on the way to Martinsville Motorspeedway Oct. 24 killing all 10 people on board.

Those killed are Randy Dorton, Hendrick Motorsports engine director; John Hendrick, Hendrick Motorsports president; Jennifer Hendrick, daughter of John Hendrick; Kimberly Hendrick, daughter of John Hendrick; Ricky Hendrick, son of Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and owner of two NASCAR teams; Joe Jackson, sponsor representative; Scott Lathram, employee of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart; Elizabeth Morrison, co-pilot; Richard Tracy, pilot; and Jeff Turner, Hendrick Motorsports general manager.

I believe that I can speak for the entire Charlie’s Angels’ team when I extend our condolences and prayers to both the Hendricks Family, along with Tony Stewart’s team on their loss.

This week’s Subway 500 was won by Jimmie Johnson, who skipped the victory lane celebration after he was told of the plane accident. This was Johnson’s sixth win this season, and first short-track victory of his career. It was also his second victory in a row.

Any other week I would be very happy talking about our next streak, but with respect to the events of yesterday, I’ll just mention that Madison has an unfortunate streak of two for being our Golden Caboose Award recipient after choosing a Busch Series driver for her NEXTEL Cup team. On top of picking Martin Truex Jr., you also have Dale Jarrett on your team.  He didn’t faire so well with his 37th place finish. Dale Earnhardt Jr., didn’t do too much better with his 33rd place finish. Jeff Burton finished 11th and Jeff Gordon overcame a mediocre car to finish ninth. Your average finish with just four drivers is 18 even.

Kris, fortunately for you, Madison chose the wrong driver. Your drivers just did horribly. Earnhardt finished 33rd, while Elliott Sadler finished right in front of him in 32nd. “Front Row” Joe Nemachek was anything but in front with his 30th place finish, while Carl Edwards could do no better than 24th.  Your best driver was Ryan Newman and his third-place finish. Your average finish is a dismal 24.4.

UnNamed One, Like Madison before you, you also have Jarrett on your team. He was your worst driver with his 37th place finish. Jarrett’s teammate, Sadler, didn’t do much better with his 32nd place finish. Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth finished consecutively in 17th and 16th, while your top driver is Ricky Rudd in 14th. Your average finish is a disappointing 23.2.

For me, it was Jarrett, Brenden Gaughn and Nemachek that did me in. They finished 37th, 34th and 30th respectively. Teammates Gordon and Johnson teamed up to be my best two drivers with their ninth and first place finishes. My average finish is 22 even.

Bosley, your worst drivers are Jarrett and Earnhardt and their 37th and 33rd place finishes. Edwards finished 24th, while Rusty Wallace finished 10th. Your best driver is Kurt Busch and his fifth-place finish. Your average finish is 21.8.

Mr. X, Gaughn and Earnhardt are your worst drivers with their 34th and 33rd place finishes respectively.  Nemachek didn’t help with his 30th place finish as well.  Gordon and Jamie McMurray were your top-two drivers with their ninth and second-place finishes respectively. Your average finish is 21.6.

Thin Man, your worst drivers are Earnhardt, Casey Mears and Edwards with their 33rd, 29th and 24th place finished respectively. On the opposite end of the spectrum are Gordon and Johnson on their ninth and first place finishes. Your average finish is 19.2.

Jill, your worst drivers were Earnhardt and Nemachek and their 33rd and 30th place finishes. Bobby Labonte finished 18th, while Kasey Kahne finished 13th. Your top driver is Johnson and his sixth win of the year. Your average finish is 19 even.

Julie, for you it was Earnhardt’s 33rd place finish and Edwards’ 24th place finish that dropped your average finish. Keeping your head afloat this week is Labonte and his 18th place finish, along with Wallace and his 10th place finish. Your best driver is Gordon and his ninth place finish. Your average finish is 18.8.

Dylan, your worst drivers are Jarrett and Earnhardt and their 37th and 33rd place finishes respectively. Your remaining three drivers didn’t do that badly. Kahne finished 13th, while Harvick finished eighth. Your best driver is McMurray and his second place finish. You’re average finish is 18.6.

Kelly, for you it was Earnhardt and Scott Riggs who were your worst drivers with their 33rd and 26th place finishes respectively. Labonte finished 18th, while your two remaining drivers, Jeremy Mayfield and McMurray finished sixth and second respectively. Your average finish is 17.

Corwin, your worst drivers is Mears and his 29th place finish. Other than that blemish, your drivers did decently. Rudd finished 14th, Mark Martin finished 21th, while Wallace finished 10th. Your best driver is Busch and his fifth place finish. Your average finish is an 14 even.

Sabrina, I bet you were wondering when I was going to get to you today.  That time is now. Your worst driver is Riggs and his 26th place finish. Robby “the other” Gordon finished 23rd this week, while Stewart finished 15th. Your top two drivers, Johnson and McMurray are the race’s top-two drivers. They helped you earn an average finish of 13.4, which also earned you this week’s TOP ANGEL AWARD.  Congratulations on what I believe is your first TAA of the season.

Next week’s race is the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Don’t forget to go to the RPM.ESPN Stock Car Challenge to see where you stack up after yesterday’s race.
