Samsung Radio Shack 500 Results

Hello Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One,

God bless Texas…that is all I have to say after today’s race in, where else, TEXAS.  If you didn’t get to see it, you missed a good one.  Lots of lead changes, a little drama, and no one brought out their own caution.

Speaking of which, if you haven’t heard, Dale Earnhardt Jr., was put on probation; fined $10,000; and docked 25 cup-points because of his admission that he brought out his own caution to stay on the lead lap. Even though he was docked the 25 points, he still came out better than if he had pitted. Based on what I heard today on FOX-TV, he would’ve lost 85 points in the championship chase.  Because of this, I don’t think that NASCAR penalized him enough in the points category and should’ve docked him the full 85 points. The penalty sends a message to other drivers that they can get away with a stunt like this too.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see other drivers do it in the future either.

Ok, enough about the “NASCAR Golden Boy,” and let’s talk about today’s Samsung Radio Shack 500 race in which we saw the eighth closest finish in NASCAR history.  Three one-hundredths of a second is what split Kasey Kahne from winning the race to coming in second for the third time this year.  Well, Kahne is again the bridesmaid, and not the bride.  Elliott Sadler is the bride this time winning for the second time in his Cup series career.  Congratulations to both Kahne and Sadler on their very close, but clean, finish.  They raced each other like gentlemen and didn’t take advantage of a much slower lapped car in the end.  All I have to say is what a finish.

I also have to say that our average finishes this week is a huge improvement from last week’s debacle.  Not one of us had an average finish over 20.  That is huge compared to last week when we had seven of our Angels have average finishes over 20.  Congratulations to all of our Angels for this improvement.

Mr. X (Dave) unfortunately, you are our Charlie’s Angels Golden Caboose Award recipient today.  Rocket Man Ryan Newman spun and hit the wall hard which took him out early in the race.  Shortly there after, Brenden Gaughn blew an engine.  They both finished 39th and 38th respectively. Matt Kenseth had problems of his own when it came to steering the car.  He finished 16th after two lengthy pit-stops during a caution.  Earnhardt stayed out of trouble today and finished fourth, while Kahne finished second again.  Your average finish this week is still a not-so-bad, 19.8. Much better luck next week.

Bosley (Jude) while you have three drivers in the top-10 this week, Newman’s crash and 39th place finish really hurt you.  Also hurting you was Scott Wimmer getting spun on a restart late in the race.  Wimmer stayed in the race but eventually had to retire the car.  He finished 33 laps down, in 33rd spot. Jamie McMurray overcame a battery problem and finished 10th.  Tony Stewart was hardly mentioned today and finished quietly in eighth place.  Your top driver today is the new NEXTEL Cup point’s leader.  Kurt Busch finished sixth, but acquired enough points to overtake Kenseth for the spot.  Your average finish is 19.2.  Much better luck to you too.

Tiffany (Jen Y), you didn't faire that well either today compared to everyone else.  Bill Elliott had the car to beat, unfortunately the car beat Elliott.  He cut a tire and ended up spinning before he could pit.  He finished 36th.  Jeremy Mayfield was doing well, but had engine problems (I believe) and finished 34th. Kevin Harvick had an ok day by finishing 13th, while your remaining drivers Earnhardt and Kahne finished fourth and second respectively.  Your average finish is 17.8.  Better luck next week.

Jill (Jennie) looks like your good luck ran out this week when both Newman and race pole sitter, Elliott spun in different accidents.  Newman finished 39th, while Elliott (who led a large portion of today’s race) finished 36th.  They were your only blemishes because Busch, Earnhardt and Kahne finished sixth, fourth and second respectively.  Your average finish is 17.4.  Better luck to you next week.

Kelly (Sarah), Wimmer was your worst driver today with his 33rd place finish.  Bobby labonte had problems too when his battery died.  Replacing the battery under green conditions caused him to go two laps down.  He finished four laps down in 25th spot. Stewart, Earnhardt and Kahne rounded out you team with eighth, fourth and second place finishes.  Your average finish is a not so bad 14.4.  Nice job.

Julie (Sally) fellow Texan Labonte and your boy, Kenseth, did you in today with their 25th- and 16th-place-finishes respectively.  Dale Jarrett, who qualified well, didn’t finish too well in 18th spot.  Casey Mears rebounded from last week’s 37th place finish to seventh place this week.  Your top driver is Kahne and his second place finish.  Your average finish is a nice 13.6.

UnNamed One (Ray), all of your drivers finished in the top-20 this week.  Three of them finished within four spots of each other. Finishing 19th and 18th is Ken Schrader and Jarrett, while Kenseth finished 16th.  Busch finished sixth, while Sadler won the race from the 19th starting position.  Your average finish is a nice 12 even.

Well, Dylan, Natalie and I tied for the third spot this week.

Dylan (Jen W), I’ll start with you because you had the worst driver of the three.  But, first, I’ll congratulate you on having five drivers in the race this week.  That said, the past two weeks you only had four drivers in the race, but still did better than some of our Angels with all five of their drivers in the race. That says a lot.  Unfortunately for you, Elliott crashed after he cut a tire.  He definitely had a powerful car and could’ve won the race today…even though he didn’t have a sponsor. Had he won, it would’ve been only the second time in NASCAR history that an unsponsored car would’ve won. But that wasn’t to be today because he finished 36th instead.  McMurray got another top-10 finish by finishing in 10th.  Your boy, Earnhardt finished fourth, while Kahne and Sadler teamed up to be our top-two drivers today.

Natalie (Donna), Labonte’s 25th and Jarrett’s 18th place finishes kept you out of our top spot today.  Jimmie Johnson overcame a pit-road infraction and black-flag penalty as a result to finish ninth.  Like Dylan, you also have Kahne and Sadler on your team as well.

For me, Wimmer was my downfall, as the rest of my drivers all finished in the top-10.  Johnson, Busch, Jeff Gordon and Kahne finished ninth, sixth, third and second respectively.

We all finished the day with a three-way tie for third because of an average finish of 11 even.  I’ll still say that is definitely not that bad.  J

Sabrina (Susan), Schrader and Martin teamed up to keep you out of the top-spot today when they finished 19th and 17th respectively.  Other than that, no problems for you. Your boy-toy finished eighth, while Earnhardt finished fourth.  Your top driver today is Kahne and his second-place finish.  Your average finish is a very nice 10 even.

Kris (Peggy) that leaves you to be our Charlie’s Angels TOP ANGEL AWARD winner for the seventh race of the season.  You did this despite having Ricky Rudd finish 22nd.  Vickers finally had a decent finish with his 12th place today.  You also have Johnson, Earnhardt and Sadler with their ninth, fourth and first place finishes today.  Congratulations on your TOP ANGEL AWARD winning average finish of 9.6.

Our combined teams’ average finish is a very decent 14.44.  Congratulations Angels.

Don’t forget to check the RPM.ESPN Stockcar Challenge Web site Monday to see where we all ended up after today’s race.

The next race is April 18 where the Advance Auto Parts 500 will be run at Martinsville Motor Speedway in Virginia.  Next week is a break for everyone because of the Easter holiday.

Good luck Angels,

Charlie
