Hello Angels, I’m trying to get into the swing of things here at my secret location so, I’m going to keep today’s commentary as short as possible. That said, congratulations to Greg Biffle on what I believe to be his first win of the year. Biffle’s teammate, Mark Martin overcame a pit-road penalty for lug nuts and finished a very distant second place. Newsnote: Jeff Gordon finished seventh and Jimmie Johnson finished 40 after his engine broke. Gordon is now the NEXTEL Cup points leader with Johnson trailing by 68 points. As I go over the scores for this week’s GSF Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Raceway, I see that you still have not changed your drivers Sabrina. I can’t keep awarding you the CHARLIE’S ANGELS’ GOLDEN CABOOSE AWARD. But this week you had two drivers on your team that are no longer full-time drivers on the NCS. Both John Andretti and Dave Blaney have been replaced on their respective teams. Your remaining three drivers filled the bill of good, bad and downright ugly. In the ugly category is Johnson and his third-straight “Did Not Finish.” As I’ve mentioned, Johnson’s misfortunes these past three weeks have cost him the NCS points lead. In the ok category, Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 21st. In the good category is your Italian Stallion, Tony Stewart, who finished ninth. Jill, for you I was unable to determine who your drivers are this week, so, I can not give you a rundown of where your drivers finished. Natalie, like Sabrina, you have Blaney on your team. Unfortunately three of your other drivers fit in the ugly category. Johnson, Rusty Wallace and Elliott Sadler all had problems. Johnson finished 40th, Wallace finished 36th and Sadler finished 32 after he cut a tire, which then blew up the right side of his car when it disintegrated. Your best driver is Kasey Kahne, who overcame a spin early in the race to finish fifth. Your four drivers’ average finish is 22.6. Then there is my downward spiral from second place three weeks ago to sixth place overall last week. This week I will fall further in the points standings after both Johnson and Sadler had their problems and finished 40th and 32nd respectively. Scott Riggs had a decent day and led the field late in the race. Ultimately though, he had to pit and came out 19th, which is where he finished. Jeff Burton has his new ride and did well finishing 12th. My top driver this week is the new point’s leader, Gordon, and his seventh place finish. My average finish is a disappointing 22 even. Kelly, your worst driver is your Texas Heartthrob, Bobby Labonte and his 26th place finish. Kevin Harvick and Sterlin Marlin finished 16th and 15th respectively, while Burton finished 12th. Your top driver Sunday is Stewart and his ninth place finish. Your average finish is 15.6. Kris, your worst driver is Sadler and his 32nd place finish. Earnhardt Jr., finished 21st, with Joe Nemachek finishing 13th. Kurt Busch and Kahne finished sixth and fifth respectively. Your average finish is just a shade better than Kelly’s at 15.4. Thin Man and Dylan, you both tie for our fifth spot today. Both of your teams’ share Sadler and Casey Mears, along with their 32nd place and 20th place finishes respectively. Thin Man, you have Jeremy Mayfield, Gordon and Busch on your team with their 11th, seventh and sixth place finishes respectively. Dylan you have Kevin Harvick, Jarrett and Martin with their 16th, third and second place finishes respectively. Both or your average finishes is 15 even. Bosley, your worst driver is Wallace and his 36th place finish. Ryan Newman finished 14, while your remaining three drivers all finished in the top-10. They are Stewart finishing ninth, with Busch and Kahne finishing sixth and fifth respectively. Your average finish 14 even. Tiffany, your worst driver is Earnhardt with his 21st place finish, followed closely by Casey Mears in 20th. Harvick finished 16th, while Mayfield finished 11th. Your top driver is the race’s top driver, Biffle and his win. Your average finish is 13.8. Julie, your worst driver is Labonte, who finished 26th. Other than that, your drivers did well. You took a chance with Carl Edwards, and it paid-off because he scored a 10th place finish.Matt Kenseth finished eighth, while Gordon finished seventh. Your top driver is Jarrett and his third-place finish. Your average finish is 10.8. UnNamed One, with four drivers finishing in the top-10 this week, I thought that you had the TOP ANGEL AWARD locked up, but it didn’t work out that way for you because of Sadler’s tire misfortune and subsequent 32nd place finish. Kenseth finished eighth, Busch finished sixth, Jarrett finished third and Biffle won the race. But again, because of Sadler’s 32nd place finish, your average finish fell down to 10 even. Mr. X, you benefited from the UnNamed One’s misfortune because your worst driver is Mears who finished 20th. Like UnNamed One, you also had four drivers finish in the top-10. They are Gordon, Busch and Kahne, who finished seventh, sixth and fifth respectively, and Martin who finished second. Your TOP ANGEL AWARD winning average finish is 8 even. Congratulations. Next week’s race is the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Please send me an updated driver list before the start of the race so I can make sure to include you in our weekly commentaries. Good luck Angels, Charlie |
