Hello
Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One,
It’s
good to be on American soil once again and to be able to write this to you
from the creature comforts of Charlie’s Angels headquarters here in the
great northeast.
I
usually start most race recaps with a little bit of a commentary at the
beginning. Today is going to be a little different, especially after what
our TOP ANGEL AWARD recipient did today.
It
is pretty common for our Angels to have two or three of our drivers finish
in the top 10. Jill,
you had four drivers finish in the top 10.
While on most days that would be great, your driver picks were
4/5ths perfect.
Your
only blemish today is Dale Jarrett, who had car troubles throughout the
day and could only muster a 30th place finish, several laps
down. Other than that, you were perfect. Your remaining drivers made up the Top-FOUR
finishers…simply amazing. In
that 4th spot is Jeff Gordon, with his teammate, Jimmie Johnson
close by in 3rd. Tony
Stewart had a terrific day starting on the pole, and finishing 2nd,
while Ryan Newman outlasted Kevin Harvick (who ran out of gas with three
laps left) to win the Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway.
Your TOP ANGEL AWARD winning average finish is a very respectable 8
even. Congratulations on your
top-four drivers, and your TOP ANGEL AWARD today
Coming
in a distant second is myself…who had two drivers in the top-10 today. All in all, my drivers didn’t do too badly, with the
exception of Mike Wallace who was taken out of the race in a crash
involving Bobby Labonte. Since
Labonte isn’t on my team, I’ll save his crash info for later.
Wallace couldn’t get back in the race and finished 37th.
Terry Labonte didn’t have the misfortune his brother did, and
finished 15th. Matt
Kenseth maintained his championship point lead with his 12th
place finish today. Of course
I had the dynamic duo (Gordon and Johnson) on my team with their 4th
and 3rd place finishes respectively.
My average finish was 14 even
Mr.
X, unfortunately for you, you have Bobby Labonte and not Terry Labonte on
your team. It seems that the
two did a swap of consistency lately, with the one-time Winston Cup
Champion, Bobby, on the loosing end.
His day ended today in a fiery eight-car crash that sent him
careening back-end first into the wall.
The sparks from the crash ignited the gas tank and the car erupted
in flames. It took a while
for Labonte to get out of the car, but he did so unscathed…and finished
an unfortunate 36th. Dale
Jarrett had handling problems all day and only mustered a 30th
place finish. Kenseth finished 12th, while Jeremy Mayfield had a
top 10 finish of 10th place today.
Your best driver is Tony Stewart and his 2nd place
finish. Your average finish
is a not too shabby 18 even. Better
luck next week
Bosley,
you came in fourth today, but not by much.
Kurt Busch blew an engine and Rusty Wallace lost his transmission. They finished 39th and 32nd
respectively. Ricky Rudd (Go
Air Force) had a nice 13th place finish, while Mikey Waltrip
and Tony Stewart finished 5th and 2nd respectively.
Your average finish is 18.2. Better
luck next week
Kelly,
you were very close to Bosley and Mr. X today, but couldn’t muster
enough driver support to put you in front of those two.
Hurting you the most is your number one driver, Bobby Labonte.
His crash sent your hopes of a good day down the toilet, because
also involved in that crash was Ricky Craven, whom you also have on your
team. He finished 25th.
Mark Martin had a consistent type of day and it paid-off with a 14th
place finish. Lucky for you, you had Terry Labonte on your team today also.
His 15th place finish helped offset the deficit you
faced when his younger brother crashed into the wall.
Your top-driver today is Stewart and his 2nd place
finish. Your average finish
is a still-respectable 18.4. Better
luck next week.
Kris,
while your team didn’t have a meltdown, Dale Earnhardt Jr’s car did.
Out of the blue, his car spun going into a turn and he rear-ended
the wall smashing the car out of the race.
He finished 38th. Jimmy
Spencer and “Mongo” didn’t help you that much with their 23rd
place finish. Ward Burton had
an “Ok” day with his 19th place finish.
Bill Elliott couldn’t help you, and he had to settle for an 11th
place finish. Your top driver
today is Jeff Gordon and his 4th place finish. Your average finish is 19 even.
Tiffany,
your average finish equals to our 7th finishing spot today. This is mostly because of Earnhardt’s 38th place
finish. But what sealed your
fate today was Joe Nemachek and his 42nd place finish.
I believe he only completed 5 laps in the whole race before
retiring his car. He finished
42nd. Kevin
Harvick was going for his third-straight win at Chicagoland Speedway, and
almost succeeded until three laps before the checkered, he runs out of gas
and goes from 2nd place back to 17th.
He Jamie McMurray had a decent day with his 8th place
finish and your top-driver today is Johnson and his 3rd place
finish. Your average finish
today is 21.6.
Ray
that leaves you to be our GOLDEN CABOOSE recipient today.
You couldn’t catch a break if your life depended on it. It started when Busch blew an engine early and finished 39th.
Jarrett didn’t help you any with his 30th place
finish. Biffle’s gamble on
gas didn’t pay off this week and he finished 20th.
Your only bright spots of the day were with Kenseth and his 12th
place finish, and Elliott Sadler and his 9th place finish.
Your GOLDEN CABOOSE award average finish is 22.
Much better luck next week.
Our
combined team’s average finish is 13.94.
Next
week’s race is the New England 300 at New Hampshire International
Speedway in Louden, New Hampshire. Don’t
forget to make your driver’s roster changes by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on
Wednesday.
Good
luck Angels,
Charlie
