Hello Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One

Let me first start off by wishing a speedy recovery from head, lung and rib injuries to Jerry Nadeau after his hard, driver's-side door crash into the wall during practice Friday night.  Nobody knows when he'll return, but his owner says it will happen.

Congratulations to Joe Nemachek on his first win this season, and third overall Winston Cup career win.  If you've been watching him, you'll see that he's been within striking distance all year long.  I'm glad it finally happened for him.  For this to happen though, he had to overcome a driver/crew chief miscommunication resulting in him missing the pits and sending the driver from 1st to 25th.  Luckily though, he had a lot of laps to make them up.

Ok, who would've thought that Richmond would be as crash-filled as it has this weekend?  First the Busch race with 14 cautions and now the Winston Cup race with 15.  What's up with that????   It also looks like some rivalries are starting to show their heads again...specifically Kevin Harvick's and Jeff Green's...and they're teammates.  Green was avoiding an accident when he cut off Harvick, who didn't slow up enough and spun Green into the wall.  Green accuses Harvick of doing it on purpose...so, I'm sure there is more to come from this.

So, let's see what kind of results we for this week in our Charlie's Angels' Fantasy League.

UnNamed One (Ray), you continue your downward slide and rack up another GOLDEN CABOOSE AWARD. My condolences to you, my friend, so, I'll start with the good...you had a driver, Matt Kenseth, finish in the top-10.  He finished 7th.  Rookie Greg Biffle had a decent day with a 16th-place finish.  Your remaining three drivers failed to finish the race because of accidents.  Ricky Rudd, Dale Jarrett and Elliott Sadler finished 34th, 36th and 37th respectively. Your average finish is a dismal 26 even.  Again my condolences and can we get a Charlie's Angels get well wish to the UnNamed One for next week's race?

Bosley (Jude), unfortunately, you also have been having a bad first segment of the year.  I've gone through the archives and found that you haven't been out of the 9th and 10th place finishes for our league in quite a while.  This week is no different with you finishing in our second worst spot for the second week in a row.  For you two things affected your team...crashes and broken parts.  Crashing was Tony Stewart and breaking was Ryan Newman.  They finished 41st and 39th respectively.  Jamie McMurray could only muster a 23rd-place finish and Mikey Waltrip overcame some obstacles to finish 12th.  Your best driver tonight is Rusty Wallace and his 10th-place finish. Your average finish is also a dismal 25 even.  Somebody needs to give Bosley a hug, and maybe he'll get better for next week's race.

Sabrina (Susan), your Italian Stud Tony Stewart's crash definitely hurt you today...because John Andretti, who had a great run last week, unfortunately didn't this week by finishing 30th.  McMurray tried to help, but again could only muster a 23rd-place finish.  That left you with Jimmie Johnson, finishing 19th and Robby Gordon, who I wrote off earlier in the evening (morning for me) after he fell 3-laps down.  Who would've thought he'd come back and finish 4th.  Nice job for him.  Unfortunately your average finish didn't reflect that comeback spirit, putting you in our 8th place finishing spot with 23.4.  Much better luck next week.

Julie (Jen T), while you're riding high on our Charlie's Angels' Fantasy League, you'll fall from our Top-spot after tonight's race.  Jimmy Spencer has done you justice before, but tonight an early crash ended his day and secured him a 42nd place finish.  McMurray didn't hurt you, but didn't help you either with his 23rd place finish.  The same can be said of Johnson.  Helping you though were the top-10 finishes for Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr, who finished 6th and 3rd respectively.  Your average finish is 18.6.  Better luck next week.

Kelly (Sarah), while you enjoyed our top spot last week, you're not there this week...even with three drivers finishing in the top-10.  The aforementioned Green/Harvick incident took you out of contention.  Green's day was over after the two tangled ending with Green finishing 40th.  While taking a chance with Jeremy Mayfield this week, it didn't pay off with his 25th place finish.  Helping you though is Jeff Burton's 9th; Mark Martin's 5th and your Texas hunk, Bobby Labonte's third straight 2nd place finish.  Your average finish is 16.2.  Better luck next week.

Jill (Jennie), I was surprised to see that you picked Casey Mears...and then thought, why not?  Unfortunately though, he didn't run as well as both he and you hoped finishing 2-laps down in 29th spot.  Johnson didn't hurt you too badly with his 19th.  Jeff Gordon had an awful car all night long.  He was lucky because of pit-strategy to lead the race for several laps, but eventually fell again to the rear of the lead lap, finishing 17th.  Ward Burton paid off with his 11th spot, and your top-driver this week is Earnhardt and his 3rd-place finish.  Your average finish is 15.8.  Nice job.

Mr. X (Dave), You had a decent race this week.  Your worst driver, McMurray finished 23rd, with Johnson just ahead of him in 19th.  Johnny Benson had a good day too with his 14th place finish.  Rounding up your team, with only 22 points separating them from the Winston Cup Points lead, is Earnhardt and Kenseth, who finished 3rd and 7th respectively.  Your average finish is 13.2...Very nice.

Tiffany, you and I finished 2nd and 3rd respectively this week.  I'm combining our part, because we share 4 of the same drivers, starting with McMurray and Johnson and their 23rd and 19th-place finishes.  I have Jeff Gordon on my team, where he finished 17th.  Both of us also have Kenseth and his 7th place.  You have Earnhardt finishing 3rd, and we both have race winner, Front Row Joe Nemachek.

My average finish is 13 even, while your average finish is a very nice 10.6.  Good job.

Well, that leaves you Kris (Peggy) as our TOP ANGEL AWARD WINNER this week.  Your only flaw, if you want to call it that is again having Todd Bodine on your team, although he didn't hurt you too much with his 22nd-place finish.  Other than that, you were flawless with Ward Burton's 11th, Kurt Busch's 8th, Harvick's 6th and Earnhardt's 3rd.  Your average finish is an even Top-10.  Congratulations on being the Top-Angel this week.

Our combined team average finish this week is a not so bad, 17.24.

Just so you can see how close this segment is before the start of the race, look below...just one point separates 1st and 2nd, and 38 points separate 1st and 4th.

Of course this week's race will mix it up, and will determine which Angel is the Segment 1 winner.

JUST A NOTE, WE'LL ALL HAVE TO PICK OUR TEAMS OVER AGAIN FOR SEGMENT 2.  We all start with a clean slate too.  I'll send out details of that as soon as I can.

Well, the next race is the Winston to be held at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night, May 17...notice West Coasters...that means it's early evening your time...(yes Kelly, that's for you...lol).

Good Luck next Segment Angels,

Charlie
